If I was to say, carefully file a notch or 6 into an optic would it destroy the beam? The optic in question is a Fraen LP, to be paired with a seoul p4.

I can tell you,,

But I need a picture or simple drawing of what exactly you are going to do !!

Regards,

Ra.

.

It depends on a how good your workmanship is, whats the tolerances of the notch you wish to file, the precision of your file, the surface rigidy of the optic, what do you mean by notch....etc etc yadda yadda yadda

personally, having little optic experience...I wouldnt mess with filing an optic [if its @#$%ly expensive] unless I know exactly what im doing

What exactly do you mean by "a notch or 6"? Are you trying to make the end hexagonal, re-shape the whole optic, mod the top/mid/bottom section?

In general, altering the sides of an optic in any way (even adding any coating) degrades its usefulness, but the "business end" (opossite to where the emitter goes) can be modified with varying degrees of success.

Sorry guys, for the life of me I can't remember why I was cutting notches into optic

I just found this thread while looing for another:ohgeez:
