Has anyone discovered the best D Cell NIMH batteries for the TK70?

This seems to be the main issue with this flashlight.

Many people have bought this flashlight at a reasonable price but then spend a lot of money trying out batteries that just don't cut it on the highest level of 2200 lumens.

You can easily spend $60 - $80 for a set of 4 NIMH batteries only to find out they are useless for this particular task.

Then they have to try something else for another $60 - $80 and possibly still have problems.

I am going to buy this great torch but like others before me they would like to learn how to power this monster.

Otherwise the battery learning curve could be much too steep in dollars and frustration.

I have heard of others using Tenergy 10,000 NIMH batteries.

I am in Australia and I will do some GooGling or check Ebay or Amazon as I am not sure if they are available here in OZ.

Did you buy a second set of 4 to have charged ready to changeover or is that too expensive?

By the time you add 8 D cell NIMHs and the charger this setup is looking nearly as costly as buying an Olight SR90.

Over here they have promotions where you get the second battery pack free when buying the SR90.

Any problems with the TK70 yet?

Thanks for your valuable input. 🙂

Go to the battery section of these forums. There are a couple of Aussies discussing this very subject.

How do you know when you have the best batteries? 😕

I guess what I am looking for is flashaholics that have had no problems with their batteries in the TK70.

I don't really expect anyone to know what is "best", only what has worked well for them over a reasonable period of use.

And I would like to hear about anyone's bad experiences with certain brands so I don't do the same thing.

I think that easily clears up that candid comment!

I have 4 batteries. No backup. Don't need backup(batteries) for this light, to big for it..
If I use this light, and it runs out, I'll switch to my back-up light > like TK21U2 or Thrunite TN11

I have both Tenergy premium D 10,000 & powerex 11,000 for my tk70 and tk60. Both have been rock solid for tk70. I use turbo mode all the time and never noticed step down. I charge all 8 of them through maha 808
