Has anyone made a keyboard tray light?

I was think of making an office desk LED lamp, but the keyboard tray slides out about 16" from the hutch where the desk light would be mounted.
So I'm wondering what size LEDs would be good just for the tray itself? I figure 5 or 6 small LEDs so there will not be too many shadows.
