Hello,
Ive had the Opalec Newbeam mod for awhile now. While Iv always been happy with the quality, its no where near as bright as I had hoped.

Has anyone overdriven one of these? Say with 3 volt lithiums or some such?

Thanks

I'm not sure that overdriving the NewBeam would do you any good. The thing is regulated to maintain constant light output. Jacking up the voltage input would probably generate waste heat and/or burn out the regulator.

I ran it on two 123's and it was the exact same brightness, just pulled a LOT less amps. I only ran it that way for about a minute, but it seemed fine. They are the same brightness using 2 NiMH’s at 2.4v and 2 L91 (lithium AA) at 3.4v. Pretty cool in my book.

So you can't get more light out of them, they are truly regulated.

Oh well, I guess Ill just have to deal with the low output. I still have my Legend LX and EternaLight
