I went by Home Depot today and saw two new Husky brand headlamps. One was said it was a 100 lumen Cree headlamp, the other a 110 lumen Cree headlamp you could adjust to either horizontal or vertical spill. Has anyone tried either of these headlamps yet?

I have the 100 lumen hi-def headlamp. I liked the tint for the woods. It didn't look good inside the house but worked on the trail. The light was bright and the beam very wide but kinda odd. However the wide beam worked. But the real problem is no modes. Only hi and at 100ish lumens and I think it is near that the 3xAAA burn times don't seem too long. Also it was just too big. The newer EOS is only 13 bucks more on sale and has a warm tint that looks good both inside and on the trail. So given the one mode and size I don't use the headlamp much. That is the problem with most cheaper B&M Headlamps/flashlights. They seem to fall short of better stuff.

Have you looked further down this forum page?

Yes I have, and originally I did not see the "high definition" thread. But even so, I have not seen anything about the other headlamp I am talking about or any sort of comparison between the two.

Thanks for the info. I am considering a zebralight or the new saint but just saw these today and was just curious about them. I just want a really bright flood headlamp to be able to work on vehicles at night. Do you think the husky headlamp would fill the bill for that purpose?

I just picked up the husky High Def headlight and I am impressed with the wide angle of the beam, also the tint is like nothing I have ever seen before , almost light an incandescent light but not, it's also very big for a headlight but it does not seem to heavy. Mostly made of plastic except for the head which id Aluminum. I am also thinking that it would make a great bike headlight with proper mounting. It might be my new going out at night to shovel snow headlamp.

I picked up the one with the Rotating Optical lens (model 625 690) 3 watt cree up to 110 lumens. I tried running it on Nimh and it flickers like crazy. The beam pattern is like a pillar. You either have a vertical or horizontal piller of light depending on which way you rotate the lens. It's really bright, but i'm gonna return due to the fact that it can't be run on rechargables and the way the light is just either horizontal or vertical. Spill it not bad.

Humm maybe not. The beam works in the woods ok with some distance however maybe the new Quad might be better but I don't own one. My Tikka plus has good flood too. I think the smaller size of the Quad or Tikka plus would be better for working on a car.
