What torch did you try to use it with?
What kind of terrain did you attempt to ride on it with?

What size/diameter bar do you attempt to mount it on? 25.4mm (recommended by the manufacturer)

What torch did you try to use it with? small AAA LED light that was sold with it in the same package

What kind of terrain did you attempt to ride on it with? M4 motorway (smooth tarmac)

Trust me it's a piece of junk.
Try and get a Paul Components all metal clamp if you can find one or use a twofish
