The Tactician and of course the 6P with Malkoff drop in both run very well on 16650.
I also have/had the E2D (600 lumen) and EDCL2-T. Neither run very well on the lower voltage of a 16650. The outputs were severely reduced.
It seems as though the Tactician driver was designed for a wider range of voltages than the other modern e series.
I use the Orbtronic 16650. They are good batteries. Note that the actual capacity is around 1950 mAh at 4.2 VDC. Sal explained to me that the higher rating printed on the cell is based on charging to 4.35 VDC.
