Re: Pre-Sale for 303 Stainless Rotary/Tactical on Monday June 29th

I don't have a HDS, but the thread title got me.

Out of the Wildlife Hatchet, Small Forest Axe, and Scandinavian Forest Axe, the Small Forest Axe is the one I kept. 'Course I didn't need any of them. Kind of an offshoot of the old knife hobby. Bought a few GBs, cleaned up and rehandled a couple of old Plumb Boy Scout hatchets that were gifted to friends, and moved on to other things.

If you want to scratch that itch with a lightly used one, hit me up. Mine just hangs in the tool cabinet...
That sounds like the perfect size axe.

Guess this test in the picture above is the final test that each HDS must pass before it will be shipped to the customer 😀
That's how they apply the black anodizing, didn't ya know?

Was his idea.
Suppose I should have known. To us an HDS is a precious jewel. To Henry, it's something to beat the hell out of until breaks so he can fix it and make it better.

I thoughts that what they were supposed to be as well. Hmmmm

I certainly don't baby my Rotary, but I don't intentionally try to break it, either. Henry has the advantage that he can just grab another one from his stock and get back to work.

Probably also blade shape and edge geometry. Splitters, choppers, slicers, all shaped differently from my research in the past.

One could do light work with them.. i.e. fire prep splitting small kindling (though they are razor sharp so feather-sticking with them is easy)... and all my axes are sharpened with convex edges to the point I could shave with them, but I wouldn't try to chop down a mesquite tree with one (the Karesuando)... I would with the Gransfors Small Forest Axe... that is a compact workhorse.
