I ruined the coating on my hds reflector and I was wondering if anyone knows of a reflector that fits the HDS or a place that can recoat the reflector with a reflective coating?

not anymore, novatac is out of them, if anyone had one even if it isn't perfect I'd love to buy it from them, I think I'll put a post in the BST forum, but if anyone knows of a place to get it refinished or can refinish it please speak up, I really love my HDS and hate the idea of having to deal with a screwed up reflector for the rest of its life.

Holy crap! Seriously?! That's no good.

Are they gone for good?
Yes as far as I know they're gone, I called both HDS and Novatac, There is a chance that when the new HDS lights come out the reflectors will be compatible but its not definite, I am hoping maybe someone screwed up and HDS when modding it and will be willing to sell it or just the reflector. I have a WTB in the BST, but I dont think I'm allowed to post a link to it here. Hopefully one of the many custom light makers or modders knows of a place that can recoat the reflector.

How are they supposed to warranty the HDS lights without parts? Granted you don't usually need a reflector, but if you did, what would they do?
I messed up the reflector on my HDS, but I was able to buy a new one from Novatac. That was probably 4 months ago.

from talking to Novatac it sounded like they were out of all HDS parts not just reflectors but i'm not %100 sure, I think out best bet right now might be to hope that henry's new lights are similar enough that spare parts will be compatible.

I once ruined a HDS reflector also, but got me a new one. The old ruined reflector could however be brought back in a quite acceptable shape. What I did was that I sanded off the old coating with some very very fine grained sandpaper (the kind you use with water). I then polished with polishing creme for a loooong time. It took a lot of work (I actually got a blister on my finger), but you'd be surprised how shiny the surface got. Not quite as shiny as the coated surface, but pretty close. I just now found that polished reflector and it doesn't seem to have lost any of it's shine yet.

Just an idea. You will loose some output, but my guess is that it'll be minimal.

You don't even need to sand it. Just soak it in some 99% alcohol and then take it out after about 5 mins and wipe. The whole coating will just rub off.

I ruined one too and I thought about just stripping and polishing it with the polishing wheel on my dremel.
