Candle Power Flashlight Forum

Help Support CPF:

It may be a simple matter of pointing the flashlight away from you and turning it on. If you can't see the scratches, then don't worry about it.
I can see the scratches and this is not acceptable to me, especially for a flashlight with a price tag of $384.00.

We look at the horizon, and we see the same thing. Don't we see the same thing?

I don't think you will get a real answer, as it is unfortunately something that happens from time to time. It is unfortunate that the scratches are there on a (costly) sapphire option, but I'm sure HDS will make it right.

I’m sure HDS will help you out. It’s basically just Henry answering emails most of the time to it might take a day or two to get back to you. I would agree that the poor AR coating is not good. Out of curiosity was it there when you got it or did it show up later? If it showed up later then it is probably more an issue with the coating on the lens than with Henry sending out a defective product. I would be surprised if he sent out a light with scratched up lens. Not impossible, but unlikely.

I had a few AR lenses from HDS do that and just ignored it. Mine didn’t affect the beam to any point I could tell though. I just chalked it up to AR coating being AR coating.

I’m in that boat. Although now that I know he’ll replace it, my mind might play tricks on me and start seeing distortion in the beam....

HDS doesn't like unhappy customers... though we do have a "black list" of folks who are off their meds and refuse to get back on them.

They are cosmetic issues that are just that... cosmetic. They don't effect how the light works. They don't effect the beam. It is like a spec of dust on the reflector. It was calibrated with it there, but it can drive some folks crazy to the point where they clean it (read: destroy) the reflector... like taking a belt sander to a beautiful woman's face who has a mole that we don't like. I've seen it (the dust thing, not the belt sander, but you get the idea).

Too many complaints on something, and it can get dropped... like Cerakote or clip holes in heads, or it can let us know there is a real problem like the cancerous bezels of times past which while cosmetic, was pretty freaking fugly... but in a cool way if you are in to that sort of thing.

Either way, let us know if you see problems like this on the sapphire lenses. There are a new batch with the same light transmission as the UCL (i.e. no loss compared to the UCL) which we like as that makes the light just as efficient with either lens.

I don't care if there is dust on the reflector or not, it doesn't bother me at all.
But if the anti-reflective coating on the glass is not of high quality for some reason, I do not like it and it is not acceptable for me.
I am sure that this is just a low-quality batch of sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.
I have no complaints about the HDS company, because I know that the customer service is at the highest level and the products are of high high quality.
Thank you HDS! :twothumbs

Henry sent me a replacement!
Thank you HDS, outstanding customer service!!!
Yeah, he does that, sometimes without even responding to your email (and when he does respond, it's with as few words as possible).

I had a bad switch on a Clicky battery tube many years ago, sent an email to Henry asking how I might resolve it, and next thing I know, there's a new battery tube in my mailbox along with a note requesting I send the defective one back for inspection.

Just got my 18650 Clicky from the post office yesterday. Had to contact the customer service after it went through customs and then got stuck at post office for a week. Been playing around with it ever since. Loving the SDR50 tint. Cant go below 5000k anymore.[emoji14]

Hey HDS fam. Its been awhile, ive been rocking my HDS 123 tactical in my thors hammer stingray leather pouch for 7 years. About 5 consistently as edc anytime i wear a belt. Ive had these flare ups with my kidney.. long story short its a birth defect thats always been there but wearing this holster i have correlated to flare ups in pain anyway... i need a new carry method. I know some people use clips from other brands.. i dont know if I necessarily want to clip it cause its a bigger light but man.. i find myself reaching for my light and its not there but my damn kidney feels better so im lookin for solutions. How do you guys carry yours? Hopefully this post found the right place [emoji1]

IDK if this is the right place to suggest features, but it would be great if we there was a way to check the voltage of the light to get a rough idea of remaining battery life.
