I'm not talking about just the reflectors. His sourcing issues go back for years, pretty much for as long as I've known about HDS lights.

I'm sure machines are expensive but he could probably solve all of his sourcing issues with them I would think.

That I cannot know. He may get some assistance, but basically he is one man operation.
In any case, best materials and precision craftsmanship are expensive and should be so. Frankly, I have no idea how Henry can make any profit on his $99 and $124 lights.

I ordered 10th January. Contacted Henry who told me about the reflector problem. Hoping that I am not going to have to wait months and months for the light. Perhaps updates on the website would be a good idea.

He probably doesn't know what to say yet. Well, it appears that most of us already have at least one or two of his lights, so we are not exactly HDSless.

I'm so sorry for this delay. How is it possible for a machine shop to produce something right the first time (I assume the reflectors used in the samples brought to SHOT were produced by the same machine shop) and wrong the second time?

Hope you guys get everything ok soon

It really sounds like doing the parts fabrication in-house would be the best solution since it seems inordinately difficult for Henry to find outside suppliers to give him the quality he wants at the price he wants. Of course running a machine shop adds a whole new set of logistics problems to the equation.

So does that mean Henry is going to get this machine or will he be sending out for a better reflector? I did a preorder from Illumination Supply and now it seems it will be a long time before the lights ship.

I thought Henry had all of his sourcing problems ironed out, but now apparently not. How long is this going to delay orders? I was under the impression that he was getting them out fairly quickly and that I might actually get the tactical model I ordered in January in the 4-6 weeks as promised, but now I'm guessing not.

Sounds like at least a month or two. I'm already in line, so I'm staying in. No point leaving, when I know I would get back in line.

I'm really starting to regret this order. I was in the market for a good quality flashlight, I've gone through far to many, I use a flashlight for work at least 30 times a night. I happened to find Thor's website and was told about what great lights HDS has. Since placing my order for an HDS Rotary I've also had to purchase a separate flashlight to tie me over until the flashlight I originally order comes in.... Huh?

Any idea on a timeframe for the new reflectors?

Sounds more like a few months to me. However, Henry sells reflectors for $19, at least that's what his website says. Why not put them in some of his newer lights if they work there?

Whilst I understand that Henry is probably doing all he can to get this sorted, and I am sure offers a full refund if I am not happy with the wait I do think that customer service needs to be improved. A "stock" answer of your light should be shipped in 4-6 weeks is fine however if this is then not the case I do not think that it should be down to the customer to enquire when they are likely to get their purchase. Like I said in my previous post a simple update on the website would let everyone know what is going on. This would prevent Henry from having to reply to lets of separate emails.

They could even go as far as to tell you that the item you want is not in stock when you order. Allowing you to make an informed choice.

I want the light so I will wait but feel that being kept in the dark is not fair and would feel a lot more sympathetic if I was kept updated as to what is going on.

The wait can be frustrating, but I always took comfort in the fact that Henry could have "solved" his supply issues years ago if he simply lowered his standards. The fact he hasn't makes me confident that no matter how long someone might have to wait, HDS will always deliver a top-quality product.

Agreed, I'm not one to b**ch and moan. But a $200 price tag deserves a regular update, once a week would be more than sufficient. I can't tell you how many times I've cursed when using my temporary (or maybe not so temporary) flashlight.
But, like someone said in a previous post, I'm already in line.

I kind of like the anticipation, makes me appreciate the light even more when it shows up. But I do agree on an update, there's no reason why he can't send out a weekly email or put an update on his site. Oh well these lights are worth waiting for!

Hogokansatsukan posting updates and hints on here is quite helpful. The standard 4-6 weeks shipping bugs me though. I do have a HDS light to hold me over so I'm ok with a wait.

I'm trying another, of several, carry methods for my rotary. I'm sure most of you have purchased quark lights, included with the light is a rubber light/hand strap. I cut one of the loops off and put it over the tail cap. Gives it great grip and minimizes the light walking around in your pocket.

I think I have plenty of those 4sevens loops so I'll try this when I get a rotary someday

that's an ingenious mod

I emailed Henry to check on the tactical that I ordered on 1/24 and how much the delay would be with the new issues. Was originally slated for the usual 4-6 weeks. He said, "As of today, it will probably be late March or early April."
