Been a bit busy, but have been meaning to post my incredible new holster for my Rotary N170 (also new). Highest of all recommendations to Dan - you killed it, brother!

Or not. The new 250s already have a XP-G2 and are pre-calibrated at the factory for 250 lumens. So mods are hit or miss around the Vf of the LED. A XP-L may bring you more lumens, heck if you find another
XP-G2 with a lower Vf you would get more lumens with a swap. But if you get screwed with a LED with a higher Vf then you will actually gets less light out of you HDS light. I had that problem when modding one of mine. I must've had a light with a very low Vf LED because I had to go through about 3-4 LEDs before I found one that would work well in the light - the ones with the higher Vf looked sickly.

Makes sense. That would worry me, too.

I guess I'll just have to wait for the next HDS 400/500 and start saving now...

It's always had me curious why Henry didn't design an internally regulated constant current driver. I can understand that using an external programming source would allow more accurate calibration to account for the varying Vf of the LEDs, but how does the driver take into account the variance of the Vf as it heats up or other outside sources causes changes to the characteristics of the LED?

There used to be a white paper on Henry's site, explaining his power supply. His power supply is better than constant current, it is constant power. It monitors current, forward voltage and temperature and keeps the output constant doing so. I am not sure if the white paper is still there and don't have time to look right now.

It's a Monroe MK II dangler I believe, the tad version. Exceedingly rare, but the perfect size IMHO.

I've already got one of those and I'm very happy with it, but at $12 each, I'm probably not going to get any more unless I have a specific need. However, if I could find something relatively equivalent for, say, $6, I'd probably buy two or three just to have.

Yeah, a suspension clip is the answer to a rotary, in my opinion. I was waiting forever for the HDS clip, but I don't like design and so am sticking with this:

The duct tape is merely to cover a metal clasp/crimpy-thingy to protect the light from scratches.
This carry method is absolutely perfect for me; and it's got a bit of personality to it. When summer & spring rolls around, I snip the zip-ties off and carry the light naked in it's own dedicated pocket in my shorts. My cargo shorts have an extra zippered pocket on the right side; and it's all HDS, all the time.

I highly recommend a suspension clip.

Yeah, folks, sorry for the delay. TBH, not used to keeping up with this thread, I'll have to change that. Thank you for the compliments on my setup. That is, indeed, a very rare TAD edition of a Munroe DTS Dangler MK2 (circa ~2009). I'm known as the Munroe Gadget guy around my parts. It's an extravagant part that could easily be replaced by a $10 suspension clip, as noted in later posts.

I just noticed that I need to reapply my shrink tubing.
