Yuji LED's do damn great 5600 LED's but sadly not for flashlights, but they are considering it in their R&D plans!, and Daniel is on cpf asking about the need.
I own many 5600 Yuji LED's, and These would be amazing in HDS lights!.

I agree. I sent Henry a link to the Yuji website a day ago, and he checked it out. We talked about it today as well. There just isn't any way of getting their current offering into an HDS. Now, if they come out with something that will fit in a flashlight... I hope that can happen but until then, I just have to deal with what is available.

Not sure which ones you guys are referring to, but the Yuji 5 mm HCRI LED's are awesome for lights that use them. I have been using a warm version in a Gerber IU since late last year, and love it. Mule-like beam, almost no center bias and absolutely no artifacts or tint variation across the beam. I think McGizmo is using the 5600K one in the Sapphire HCRI.

Oh, and when you are reading over on your speed, you should get bonus miles on the ODO, if they read from the same source. Was going to mention things changing with aftermarket tire sizes, but you have already used that to your advantage! Not to poke the OCD bear, but if they don't read from the same source, you may now be showing less than your actual miles on the ODO. (Hogo gets out surveyor's transit to mark out calibrated mileage test track in the desert)

Thanks , so you're saying the sapphire mule has the Yuji 5600k LED ?.

Anyone else have some neat "How I tried to break my HDS" stories?
Worst I've done to my Rotary is drop it on concrete a bunch of times during the course of owning it. I have three or four good, solid nicks on the dial and one on the bezel that I lightly filed to smooth it out because it felt a bit sharp.

As I like to say, when you drop an HDS light, you pick it up and check the ground for damage.

I dropped my clicky one night while closing up the soccer facility. One of my players groaned and made a face when it hit the concrete. I said " don't worry, I don't think the sidewalk is broken."

HDS lights make such a solid "THWACK" when they hit the ground that it can be distressing to the uninitiated.

Apart from effiency, How different does the 219c 4000k compare to the 219b 4000 HCRI HDS emitter?.
exact same tint ?.
any comparison?.

thanks.

Yes the 219c 4000k is more towards yellow, the 5000k too my eyes is more towards white.
I do like the 219c 4000k, but it is nothing like the 219b 4000k. Still its nice in its own way, if i had to pick the 219b 4000k wins for the nicer on the eye "tint". Completely subjective of course, but could recommend the 219c 4000k to be a part of the collection/family.

Yes, check out his sales thread in customs. He mentions the Yuji for the new HCRI version of the Sapphire. He does not say whether it is the warm or the 5600K, but someone in the 5mm thread said it is the 5600K version.

I think if we could get the same quality in a focusable power LED, it would be the grail for the HDS HCRI.

Nice!!

**Ugly grunting noise** I'm so tempted to get an HDS rotary. I love the infinite variability in brightness.. How do they compare to Surefire build-wise?

Much better than a Surefire. I remember getting my first one, and just being completely blown away comparing it to my Fury. The attention to quality and detail is simply unprecedented!

I 2nd that! I still have a couple Surefire's but to be honest don't care for the new ones. My Rotaries have replaced my Surefire lights. Once you get an HDS you won't look back. I prefer the rotary tactical the best then toatary, then LE clicky.

I think I'm the only person alive that prefers the standard clicky. Actually, I prefer the old Novatac 120T ui over everything I tried. I haven't tried the LE ui but I believe its similar tot the 120T.

As it is, my preference is Clicky, Tactical, then Rotary. Of course, considering its all so programmable I can get any set to the way I like it so the differences are moot. And the tactical is an interesting bird, got my hands on my first one last night. At first I was thrown as it its less customizable but its growing on me. Interesting system.
