I thought I would post some of my thoughts on the Nichia 219b sw45 9080 "F89HG" since I have gotten to play with one for the last couple of days and since they will be offered very limitedly on July 6.

I hate it.

I really hate it because it makes me feel like I'm cheating on my High Noon. I love my High Noon. I do think the High Noon gives me the best representation of noon day sun here in the AZ... but... damnit, that F89HG inside the house... my god man! It's beautiful!

It's 2 CRI points higher at 95-96 CRI taken on the sphere at HDS. Screenshots below.

Now, it is important to NOT CROSS THE BEAMS! In a direct comparison of the High Noon and F89HG... if you cross the beams... it would be bad. The High Noon looks blue and the F89HG looks pink. (my opinion). So take it from Egon Spengler and DON'T CROSS THE BEAMS!

So, here are the screen shots from the F90HG on the sphere...

Here it is at 211 lumens (this one goes to 11!)
95.24 CRI

Now at 75.9 lumens the CRI goes up to 96.34

And at 39 lumens the CRI is at 95.92

The High Noon hits closer to the neutral energy point where the F89HG is off a bit to the right, but that's the difference between 5700k and 4500k.

I have to say, if I had to pick one... I would sell something and keep both.

As to which I will put in a Titanium... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsbYx6hevoQ

I have 3 in them in my pocket rocket ti Hogo,
HU3Ppmil.jpg

now comparing against the 219b 4500k(not 9080) and my haiku 9080 as well as 219b 5000k. The 5000k 219b seems to not add any warmth to the light colours(whites/greys etc). I did notice the 4500k 9080 add a tad of warmth................of course my eyes/brain can change things around. Hard to pick a fav, as i enjoy 4000-5000k mainly. But why enjoy 1............i say enjoy every 1:)

Thanks Hogo, now I want the 4500k it’s amazing- the 3oclock is just a tad to cool for me, and that’s only because most of my lights are 4000k... flashaholic problems lol.

All my Christmases rolled into one a Titanium Rotary fitted with Nichia 4500K 219B R9080. Cannot wait, really like the 4500K 219B in my HDS 170.

The eyes and brain do adjust. I can pick up a cool white and it looks fine (as long as there isn't green or blue). Can generally tell a warm pretty easily. The brain sets it's own white balance. When doing side by side comparison is when the brain starts farting.
I haven't gotten to play with my 2700k as it's still on the production table, and may have to go to someone else... but we will see. Hoping not.

For me, I will probably go with the High Noon in my own Titanium for an EDC, but I still haven't decided. From what I have seen so far, the 219c is a bit more efficient than the B by around 10% or so. I might just flip a coin. I guess I have to decide if I'm going to carry the titanium around... in which case I'll go High Noon, but if I plan to use it mostly in the house, then the F89HG...
There is just no way I can justify two titanium lights... I'm trying... but...

What a salesman! I am sold. Look at the bottom shelf and compare the colors on the sixth book in from the right. The "F89" LED emitter makes the brown pop.

The perfect dog walking tint then :poke:

That is exactly what I do! Distinguishing leaves from waste is very, very important when you have to pick-up afterwards in the Northeast USA fall season either early morning or late at night.

The alternative is to feel around for the heat and/or steam. :-)

The magic of this LED isn't so much the extra few points in overall CRI, it's in the special CRI category like the deep red R9 value which is as high as it's overall value. Only the R12 value is a little low on across the board comparison.
This LED is truly a stand out compared to it's R9050 counterparts.
Well done to Hogo and HDS for making this one happen, you guys are going to love these lights.

I'll hold my congratulations till I have my Ti 9080 in my hands. :)

Hogo,

If the first Ti Rotary happens, is there a possibility for second run down the road?

I very much doubt another run will be done for the Rotary. It took 9 years for this one to come about. I'm not saying it won't happen, but I sure wouldn't hold my breath.

Hogo, exactly how many "F89" emitters are going to be made available on the 6th at high noon?

Part of my goal with HDS is to have much fewer posts going "I wish HDS offered (insert) emitter", and more "dangnabit I wish I would have got the HDS with (insert) emitter! Anyone have one for sale?"

The limited edition emitters will vary greatly in quantity. We might get 100, 50, or 10. There isn't a set number and simply goes by what I can get my grubby little hands on.

No. I will not post how many of which we have, so please don't ask and refer to this post when someone invariably does
"Please refer to post #1285" is all I will respond
. Yes, Hogo can be a ****. We have seen it before much to the chagrin of the mods trying to keep things in check with me! LOL!
