HDS Systems EDC Holsters # 1

Received my new downward draw battery pouch from Thors Hammer Custom Leather - just in time too. These are great for carrying spare batteries and the downward draw allows me to draw the batteries downward from under a Fall and Winter coat without having to unzip the Jacket. The new downward draw is pictured along side my upward draw battery pouch that I have been using during the Spring and Summer months. Both have a one way military snap closure and will nicely fit the plastic battery packs of either 18650's or 16340's - HDS INR batteries pictured.

Curious to know which holster(s) the holster maker (Dan) carries his HDS in?

When a new emitter comes, I move to this:

This way I always have the new light and another to compare it to. In this case the 325NLT and SST-20 (SST-20 on the right.... Henry put his old tail on it so I would bring it back. Dirty pool if you ask me!)

My others are home and I am currently at HDS. Will try and get some photos later in the week.

I have always liked that holster and have had Mr. Thor make a couple of variations for me. It's flashlight season, so I'm always thinking of ways to carry more lights.

I have 5 of Dan's holsters. My first one had a flap and I suppose I didn't know better and got a normal snap. I never use that holster now because the flap always comes loose, If I had perfect future vision, I would have asked for a more secure snap. Since then, all the holsters are open top.
I am working with Dan right now about getting a double like the one above for my High Noon HDS and my Malkoff E1 Hyper Throw Head on an old Surefire E1B body. The Malkoff is 1mm larger and Dan says he can make me one that works. I love custom work. It is satisfying to own.

Pull-the-Dot are darn good snaps... they should be as the die sets to set them cost a couple HDS lights while regular snap die sets coast a couple 123 batteries. Thankfully, you only have to buy them once... unless you lose them.

Guess who has a new Malkoff coming?
Any excuse to buy another, and I thought this was a great excuse.

If I recall it’s actually more than the cost of 2 HDS lights with sapphire lenses but well worth the investment.
Calculate logistics and going through a distributor in one country who orders the stuff from another country who gets the stuff from MY country and the cost just went up significantly... then put issues of receiving faulty tools on top of that cause someone somewhere thinks you’re just some dumb person who won’t know a good one from a bad one!

So in another part of cyber space someone asked about this double set up with an 18650 Hound Dog. It won't work as you can't draw the HDS without first removing the Hound Dog as the HD will block the HDS from being drawn all the way out... see photo:

The holster has to be made specifically for this set up by canting the HDS slightly forward like so (for left side carry):

But wait!!! There's more!!!

Variation on the theme above. Holds the 18650 Hound Dog lower making it easier for muffin tops.
As a plus, will hold the Hound Dog Super... so an HDS/HDS holster.

Blame doctordun for all of this.
