Hi all
I got a couple question regarding epoxy heatsink.
1. what is the best heatsink? Artic silver ceramique, artic silver 3, artic silver compound, artic silver epoxy, or artic alumina (epoxy, compound, and adhesive)? Anyone can give me a light on how these things works?
2. In case i want to remove teh epoxy, what should i do?

thanks in advance

For mod use, Must be "adhesive" type. Arctic Silver Epoxy is the primo product, but I have found negligible heat wicking difference between it and the Alumina version, although the Alumina sets up much more quickly (better for maniacally huge runs of mod lights...). And it is about half the price of the Silver.

Mr Bulk, thanks.
Can we use ceramique type for luxeon mod purposes?

You would be safe with either Arctic Silver or Arctic Alumina... I use the Alumina because it performs favorably compared to the Silver and is also electrically non-conductive. Alumina's a lot cheaper too.

Thanks Slick and Mr. Bulk. Already has Alumina and silver adhesive on my way. Shipped tomorrow via UPS.
estimated to arrive by friday. Be one happy weekend /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The Arctic Alumina already uses a ceramic epoxy base.

I am just trying to put my 1 watt luxeon, just the emitter, inside the energizer double barrel. Also, i am planning to make luxeon on PR based. using heat sink will allow me to connect the base of the emitter to the flange, which in turn should transfer the heat to the body of the flashlight without short circuit.

Oh yea, a side question about emitter. I got a good bin emitter and for some reason, it got burned by high current and high temperature and become puke green. I want to over drive it to get original brightness. The question is, how hard should i drive it but still maintain its longevity. Is 4 AA battery still ok?
