First post. Working on bike lights Motorcycle off road street legal crf450x Electric start. So I have a 12 volt power source. charging system 20 watts dc and 46 watts Ac. The ac is used for the headlight 35 watts.
Here's what what iv done scraped the 35 watt bulb. Modified The headlight to take CREE XLamp XRE Series mr16 3x2 watt 6 watts total each light. non standard size led White 15 deg. Found at: http://cgi.ebay.com/MR16-LED-CREE-3...photoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262
I'm now using 12 volts dc for the head light. I'm using the 12 volts AC for the helmet spot lights and one bar mount light for the high beam. (This mr16 runs on 12 volts DC or AC.)
Here's what I'm after I would like to change mr16 that's in the headlight out for something with more lumen's. I think I can safely use up to 12 watts of my dc power.
I need your thoughts, ideas and what you would do if this was your bike? Use the best led or led's with the highest a mount of lumen's possible using around 12 watts /12 volts The spread of the head light should be like a normal low beam just brighter. I don't want to use the reflector that's in the headlight now as part of the new LED light. It can stay just not used. I like the way the led shoots straight the lens now. At the 15 deg. It works better than the 35 watt bulb that was original. ( just to let all know iv done the stator rewind and the melt down once, Im done with all that lets move on.)
I'm not looking to go cheep. I want a quality product
I just want the most light possible.
Let see what you can come up with. Thank You. Alan
