I hope this is the right section.

I'm looking for some LED bulbs to replace the incandescent bulbs in some of my flashlights.

I need some that work with 3 volts and will have that screw base. It's for a small two AA flashlight and another one for a magnifying glass.

I also need one that works with 6 volts and also has that screw base.

Those are the two hard one. Lastly, I'm looking for a nice LED replacement with a normal bulb base that works with 3 and 4.5 volts. I saw a thread on LED replacement bulbs, but I don't know if the information there is dated and I can't find anything for screw based bulbs.

Thank you!

eternity,
Check out some of the Tektite led replacement bulbs at:

http://www.led-replacement.com/tektite.html

I don't know if they are the right size or not, but the LS233 is for 2-cell flashlights (3 volts), and the LS407 is for 4-cell flashlights (6 volts). They are not cheap, they aren't going to be super-bright, and they are side-emitters, which means that they are going to be more flood than throw, but I think that your options are limited.

When you say 'normal base'; if you mean 'bayonet socket base', Tektite has some of those, too.

I have a Tektite L222 bulb in one light and it is a pretty good bulb replacement. It isn't terribly bright by most people's standards but it works quite well at what I need it for: to provide light on a screw-base 2AA light. It beats the incandescent bulb for run time and is about as bright so it's not bad.

For PR flange bulb replacements I suggest that you get the Nite Ize 1Watt PR flange replacement bulb. They're typically $12-16 and they provide about 40-60 lumens. You can use them with anywhre from 2 to 6 alkaline cells and they really make your batteries last. I've even ran one of these bulbs on a pair of 18650s. Beware of the lower cost large globe version of this bulb (this one has a larger 10mm "bulb" compared to the 1Watt version which is about 5mm). It costs less, around $8, and is about half as bright. It has the same 2-6 cell rating.

I recommend only replacing the incan bulbs with LEDs of your best incan lights, and invest in new LED lights instead as the return for incan/LED dropins is not very good compared to LED designed lights.

watch out for LEDs screw type bulbs in some applications as the focus may not be identical to the incan that was there.
The majority of screw bulb LED replacement are 5mm based and not impressive output. LEDs with more output cost around $10-$15+ and up which could be put towards decent LED lights that output 2-5 times as much better light.

For the regular PR base look for
Dorcy 41-1643 30 Lumen 3V Replacement Bulb and
Dorcy 41-1644 40 Lumen 4.5V - 6V LED Replacement Bulb.
Available in Sears Canada and FRY's in the US for $4 each.
Dorcy direct wants $7.

No suggestions for the screw based type.

For the magnifying glass the LED bulbs do not work well. They are fairly tightly focussed and tend to put light where you are not looking.

I've got the Nite-Ize LED replacement that is for 2-6 cell lights (3v-9v). Right now I've got it in a cheap 2xAA host that I got for .99 at Harbor Freight and running it on 2x14500 just to try it out and see if it would work and play around a little. It runs but not a great thrower, haven't done a runtime test yet. This drop-in will work in lots of different lights and not just Mag's. I think at Lowe's they are around $16 and I saw one at Harbor for about $10.

Might be and option.
