Guys I'm trying to figure out which one to get. I want throw out to 200-300yds. My price range is around $150.00. The light doesnt need to have much spill at these distances.

What makes the A-10 able to throw as far as the V2 with less lumens, the head and reflector ?

I've looked at the photos and videos of the beam shots and for my price range these are the two lights that seem to fit my needs.

Thanks

Camo,

I may be able to help you with this, if you could tell me what your intended purposes are for wanting a thrower.

The A10-G and Cat V2 were my finalists as dedicated throwers, but I had at least one very specific purpose of using it to track deer movement after dark prior to hunting season, so I wanted a focused beam, but not to the extent of an aspheric light. For that, I chose the Tiablo and I'm glad I did.

The A10-G will throw a fairly tight beam with some useable spill at 200+ yards. Relying on beamshots and reviews, my understanding of the Cat V2 is that it will provide a significantly greater amount of total output, but still throw its beam way out there.

I have both the A10-G and the Catapult V1.

For 300 yard throw I would get a Tiablo A9 (I also have one of these!) and the aspherics head or the dereelight equivalent.

300 yards is a long way to throw with usable light.

It's a real shame there are no plans to make an aspheric head for the A10-G, 300-400 yard decent throw would be possible.

It wouldn't be any better than the A9 Aspheric. The newest A9's run R2's now at the same output level as the A10 emitter. The only way to improve performance would be a larger aspheric lens than the A9 has.
