Alright I found 2 multitools that I like, but I can't decide which one I like better, so I'm here to ask ur opponion.

1. Swiss Army Swiss tool Black Oxidized
$63
Its important to know that I looked at several other sites and they all had this same tool at a much higher price $70-$95 range.....so $63 is really good.
This store was on the swiss army offical site as a retail partner so I assume that their products are genuine.

2. Leatherman wave Black Oxidized
$77

Which one do you guys recommend?
Which one is more reliable?

thanks

Both are great tools. How you should decide between them is really if you want a one-handed opening knife. The knife blade (and a few others) on the Wave can be opened one-handed. On the other hand, the Swisstool is made of inox steel, so it is almost impossible to rust. It is even dishwasher safe. I like the pliers better on the Wave as they are thinner and more versatile for my uses, but the Swisstool's pliers appear stronger. The phillips head is marginally better on the Leatherman tools, IMO. The multitool that I carry is the Swisstool Spirit. Smaller, lighter, and has all the tools I generally need.

With quality multitools, there's no such thing as "more reliable." :) Just "better."

Both look great and I'm sure both are high quality. What I normally do is look at each and every "tool" that is on them, and ask myself, "how often would I use this?" Compare your answers and then pick one based on usage.

now see this is important......I am in constantly in a marine environment.

....and ya I aready looked at that other thread. One thing that I noticed in that thread, was that no one had anything bad to say about victorionox.

I have handled the Swisstool and own the Spirit, and I like the Spirit better because I feel it is slightly better designed, and it has thinner pliers. There are a few different models, including the Swisstool RS, with a curved serrated seatbelt cutter, which you may find more useful in your marine environment.

Greetings!

I personally chose the Swisstool after years of trying just about every multi-tool on the market... I've never looked back, the Swisstool is simply perfect! :)

Best wishes,
Bawko

swiss tool are made to tighter tolerances and has the nice swiss precision feel.

don't get me wrong leatherman are nicely made tools. but a Swiss tool is sooo nice!

Then you will want a Victorinox. In addition to some Leatherman and SOG multitools, I have the SwissTool X and Spirit, both excellent tools. The SwissTool is stronger and has larger individual blades, but the Spirit is lighter weight making it easier to carry.

What others said about the Swisstool. My go to multi-tool is the Swisstool Spirit.

Enjoy!

For me, the utility of the Wave beats the Victorinox. Its just a pain to have to open up the Victorinox every time you want a blade. The Wave's blade, serrated blade, saw and file are accessible without opening up the pliers. JMO.

This is very subjective, so don't sweat it either way. :twothumbs

I do appreciate the Swiss Tool's real 3-dimensional phillips. The Wave's phillips is sort of a flattened 3-dimensional driver.

I have the Victorinox swiss X tool. It's very nice but the wire cutters area is smaller than my Leatherman Cores wire cutting area. Otherwise the quality of the Vic is more refined than the core I have but I do like them both.

Victorinox, all the way. My EDC is a Victorinox Soldier, but if I go for anything heavier for any reason, I reach for my Victorinox Spirit. Try Amazon (Amazon directly, not another company through Amazon) and get free shipping on orders over $25. I got my Spirit there for $40 with leather sheath, and my Soldier for $16. BTW, the Spirit is lighter than it's bigger brother Swiss Tool more because it's a more refined, optimized second generation for Victorinox multitools, and not really because it's a "cheaper version". Also, you may like that the main blade is serrated, but with no real point, which makes it much safer and easier for cutting rope.
