I will go strict to the problem...

I have ordered original Tiablo A9 flashlight to my friend... We tested with my batteries and it was working just fine...

He took it to home and then he recharged 2 new ultrafire IRC 123 batteries...

He normaly put the batteries inside tiablo A9 and then he told me that he turned Tiablo A9 on high mode, and that it run for about 1,5 h, and then dies...

He recharged same batteries again and when he put inside TA9 it did not wanted to work...

So he went at a first shop and bought non rechargeable cr123 batteries he put it again in TA9 and TIABLO DON'T WANT TO WORK...

Is it posibble that something has burned when he had flashlight 1,5 burning on HIGH mode?

Can led flashlights with q5 emitter burn?

Please help me...:candle:

No telling what could have happened, but it should have not had any problems running on high for the full duration. Make sure the switch module is tight in the tailcap (tighten the ring inside the tailcap using the two small holes drilled into it). If it still doesn't work, remove the tailcap and install new CR123a batteries. Leave the tailcap off, then obtain a small piece of wire to bridge the end of the battery and the flashlight tube (touch one end of the wire to the end of the rear battery and hold it there, while touching the other end of the wire to the cross section of the flashlight body... on the bare aluminum part). If the flashlight works, then either the switch is bad or the switch's retaining ring isn't contacting the flashlight tube. If the light still doesn't work, then there's a problem with either the driver circuit or the LED itself. In that case, contact the dealer where the light was purchased, or Tiablo at [email protected] for warranty service.

Thank U on your answer sir...

I did as U told and flashlight does not work:mecry:

I have ordered this emitter from e-bay...
http://cgi.ebay.com/5PCS-Cree-XR-E-...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4a9b9554aa

Please look it and tell me if is this good, and please tell me what accesories (tools) I need to fix the flashlight?

Thank U on your answer U helped me a loot...

So every led flashlight should continuously run on high mode until battery dies?

Not sure why the light stopped working. But Ultrafire rechargeable cells are crap. Completely unreliable. AW brand are much better. They cost a bit more, but you save money by not buying Ultrafire crap in the first place.

Thank U... We also tried on panasonic cr123 non rechargeables and still did not work...

Sir can U help me choosing the batteries? Please check this link http://cgi.ebay.com/Solarforce-2x-C...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ef477f858

They are protected and solarforce brand?

Or can U please give me link of AW brand batteries from sellers that send international?

Thanks...

You could have bought just a single Cree XR-E Q5 instead of 5.

Since you've also tried primaries, it's probably not a battery problem. Could be a bad driver. LEDs don't break that easily.

Then I need to buy a few driver circuits for it just in case?(recommend me me driver circuits please...)

And question about that: If driver burns can it be repaired?

I have bought 5 cree q5 in case something burns because I am to green for moding flashlights right now...

My friend and I are splitting expenses...

Thank U on your help i appreciate that...

Lighthound.com has one of the best reputations on CPF. Check out the link below.

http://www.lighthound.com/search.asp?keyword=AW+batteries&search=GO

As far as Solarforce goes, their 18650 cells are generic ones pulled from laptops and wrapped with their labels. It's likely that their RCR123 cells are also generic ones. Best to stick with AW brand.

Thank U... Especially for the solarforce battery that R generic as U say so they should do their job fine...

I will order AW for myself and solarforce for sale in my country

In my country no name rcr 123 costs 15$...

Dealextreme also has drivers for sale. Check the DIY flashlights section.

You can repair a driver, but you'll need to know which part of it broke, then get the right component, and solder it on. Usually driver components are small and hard to fix, the components might also cost more then a new driver if you by then because you are buying them individually, which could be a lot more expensive then buying in bulk. A new driver might not have the modes you want though.

I took the Tiablo A9 to local electrician today and he repaired the light...

There was nothing with emitter but he told that driver burned...

He drilled the driver and put wire inside it and flashlight works now...

Is it possible that driver burns out if battery(2× rcr 123) were not properly installed or if I run constantly on high mode ?

The flashlight is probably in direct drive right now. There is no circuit between the batteries and LED to lower the voltage. To avoid doing damage to the LED, don't use 2 RCR123s in the light. Use a single RCR123, and a spacer.

I don't remember reading about the A9 having problems with RCR123s, so it could be a bad driver to begin with.

I don't know what a direct drive means but I know that I can click same as before for low-high-off...

He just drilled and put the wire inside because he did not know how to put driver out of the housing...

And Sir... Could U recommend me the driver for Tiabo A9 q5 emitter, and give me link to it please ?

if its working, dont *fix* it :poke:

Yes but Mr. Gunner says that The flashlight is probably in direct drive right now. There is no circuit between the batteries and LED to lower the voltage.

So I really don't know what direct drive means...

I have ordered Q5 emitters (5 pcs :))

I now must order driver for it ( i prefer high mode only)...

So I need recommendations for drivers Tiablo A9 Q5 emitter...

Thanks

if you are getting low-med-high, the driver is working correctly.

direct drive means only high.

sometimes just taking a light apart and putting it back together can fix a problem.

use your new emitters for new projects, find some old lights and see if you can make them better?

:twothumbs

Thanks sir... I am glad that everything is good with flashlight now:naughty:

Please give me recommendations for Tiablo A9Q5 emitter drivers...

It is not easy to disassemble Tiablo A9 driver from its housing (even electrician did not know how to that so he improvised) so every recommendation how to that would be much appreciated...

I am glad that old members are wiling to help rookies like myself because that is not case on other forums...lovecpf
