I'm going to break this thread into two different sections as my interest in LEDs relate to two different projects. 1. Integrating LED's into artwork Please take a look at the following images to give you an idea of the types of stuff we make. The next event is going to be themed completely different.
Now we should touch on my knowledge of LEDs and Electronics in general, very little. I'm willing to learn and my father is very very good with electronics and can help me out if needed. I was looking online for different LED products and started to get confused at how many different options there are. Is it best to buy individuals and solder them into the blank pcbs yourself? I also saw large rolls of leds for about $60-70 for 500, however you must purchase one roll of each color you want from the particular place I saw it. Ideally, I would want to be able to control the patterns, be able to chase or fade, possibly use the tri-color leds...
The LEDs can't be super super bright because they will effect the atmosphere if they are.
2. Integrating LED's into clothing. This seems fairly easy, I just need to know how to power them. I found these online, they seem like they would be perfect to sew into clothing in certain areas. Can you get a small enough controller/battery for this to be practical?
Any comments/advise/tips would be GREATLY appreciated!
