I just got an Ultrafire C1 and i need help to get it to work. I put a charged 18650 in it and as I am screwing the cap down it lights up. When it get tightened all the way, nada, nothing. I unscrew the cap and about 1-2 turns before the cap comes off it lights up again.

Any ideas? I feel like a dope for asking but I am just not mechanically inclined I guess.

Thanks

I had a similar problem before it was a royal pain to find the problem. What kind of battery are you using? For me it turned out that the voltage sensing lead on my battery had a poor connection. If you have a spare battery try putting that one in and seeing if the problem persists. If so than the next place I would search is the switch. I would remove the switch housing and short the battery negative to bare aluminum on the light housing with a piece of wire, press down and if it still goes off then you know the problem is in front. Check the drop-in, make sure the external spring makes proper contact with the light. If so then the problem may be the pill. Sometimes the regulator board ground is not soldered to the pill. Past that I'd say if you're not familiar with soldering and desoldering electronics or don't have the right equipment simply buy a new drop in, I suggest a good upgrade like the Solarforce xp-g from lighthoud. I love mine, great light, throwy and excellent beam profile with no artifacts.

I am using 18650 rechargeable. I tried 4 batteries that work fine in another light so I don't think it is the batteries. Thanks for trying to help, the rest of what you wrote may as well have been in Greek though. Flashlights have pills? Take apart the tailcap assembly? I think I herniated a brain stem just now.

Does anybody know of a good repair shop or someone that fixes such things in Santa Fe? I have a sick Olight M20 as well.

If you're not up to repairing these Chinese lights you should stick with lights you can send back for warranty repairs. It's pretty much the consensus here that cheap Chinese lights will need some DIY repair or rework to get them 100% reliable.

If you can rule out the switch like I posted before it pretty much leaves only the p60 module at fault. Luckily p60 modules are cheap and easy to replace. You can buy a whole new module if you don't feel like repairing the pill.

If repair work is not your forte, sending it off for work you'd end up spending more than the light is worth, the only advice I can give you is get a new p60 module for your C1 or just get a reliable new flashlight from someone like shiningbeam. I have the Romisen RC-M4 and it's been rock solid reliable shiningbeam's version is even better.

Yeah you are right, you get what you pay for. Except in the case of the sick Olight, it was not cheap, not expensive, but not cheap.
Thanks for your help quertyydude.
