I have an aluminum sst-50 edc and the switch has stopped working. I know its the switch because I have another and I switched heads/batteries/tails and that tail is the only part not working. any help or suggestions for either replacing it or maybe its something simple to fix?? thanks

I do believe you can purchase the switch from various vendors. Oveready and lighthound are two that come to mind. I've never taken the switch assembly apart on a mac edc, but it looks like you'll have to unscrew the black plastic ring that has the 8 small holes in it. It's the thing that surrounds the switch boot. Then you should be able to take the boot off and then unscrew the switch out. Reassemble in reverse order.

Is this one of Mac's lights? Why not ask him? I believe it uses a McClicky & that is fairly simple to replace.

i had a similar problem with my Haiku. The switch was very easy to change, I would contact Mac, he will probably just send you a new switch. Good luck. I am patiently waiting for my SST-50 edc to arrive. Still have a few more weeks though.

Thanks mac. Pm will be sent. Froggy- only reason i did not go straight to mac is i know hes very busy getting everyones lights out and thought id see if i could tap into the wealth of great knowledge all you guys have! : ) Thanks!

Anyone know whether the retaining ring for the switch boot on the mcclicky is specific to the mac or is it standard with mcclicky switches? Thanks guys

I don't know, but if you're asking because you secretly wish this part was made of metal to match the build quality of the rest of the light, +1

Received my boot and retaining ring. My edc is complete again. I can sleep at night.

Both my Macs are my favorite lights.

Appreciate the high quality and can't wait for your next run
