I'm installing 4 LuxeonIII's on a heatsink adapter a nice fellow made for me and putting this on a 4 D cell Maglite NiMh 9000Mah each . So has anyone done this direct drive and measured the current or voltage? Is it to much power? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the CPF elfen1. You should consider sticking in a 0.5R resistor (removable) as NiMhs' are high current batteries. Also make sure your heatsink makes firm contact with the walls of your light. 4 x 3.5watt is a lot of heat to dissipate. At a guess, you'd have at least 1A of current through the LuxIIIs. Also I presume you will parallel each LuxIII to the battery.

Well in parallel I guess if you mean giving them all there own link to the power supply. Well I just got a drop in luxeon III to test on my Mags and I put tit in my 3 D cell with 9000 mah batts and measured the current and it said 4 amps is this right. It seems to high considering max should be 1 amp. It's a drop in from qualityitemsonline.com called diamond replacement. I waryt about turning it back on!!!

4A doesnt sound right. That would have killed your LuxIII instantly also. You are measuring the current by putting the multimeter in series between the battery and one end of the LuxIII? Yes, parallel means each LuxIII connected to the battery. The Diamond drop in should be fine. It is somewhat regulated. Just make sure the specs say you can use 4 x batteries (rechargeables)

I had it in my 3D cell Maglite and measured it at the positive and negative lead on the LED. It also measured 3.4volts.
