Hey guys, I have a 6 volt rechargable battery pack from an old caving headlamp. The battery pack is still good but the lamp head is toast. I would like to make a handheld LED light to work with this battery pack. I want some serious output with good runtime. Anyone have any ideas?

here is a pic of the battery pack:

Well, you could this driver(comes in a 4 pack) and 4 Cree/Seoul LEDs with a or a few suitable reflector/optics. I would say a bare LED for flood, a wide optic/reflector or close-medium range, a narrower one for medium/far range and an aspheric for the really long range. Each driver has its own switch so you can choose beam patterns or mix and match.

Everything in whatever fits.

I was actually thinking about wiring it up to an existing handheld light. I just need to know that the light can handle it. This battery puts out alot of current. The last 6V LED I tried fried within a few minutes. It was one of the MAG LED's.

I have an old Streamlight 2L 3 watt luxeon. It runs on 2 cr123 batteries. Could I use this one?
