I have searched and found nothing for what I am looking for, I am sure it is here somewhere but I can not find it.

I have some new cells where the wrapper was destroyed by trying to fit them in a certain holder. Before I have not had any trouble fitting these same cells in the same, older version holder. But with this holder these same cells would not go in without some help. Maybe too much help.

The holders maker will not be revealed because I like the holders too much to make a stink, but I have 3 of the holders that these batteries- Sanyo 2700- will not go in and the holders stripped the wrapper off of them when I pushed to hard.

But the previous holders, maybe a year older, will accomadate the 2700's just fine.

Now all that said, I need help with coating these cells with something so that I can use them in other applications, thanks for the help in advance, hb//

Keep in mind that the typical heat shrink is much thicker than the wrapper for retail batteries or even that AW uses with his Li-Ions, and may result in batteries not fitting. One other alternative until I find thinner heatshrink for individual cells, is to use the Kapton 1mil thick tape. I got some from McMaster Carr

More specifically.....Elite NiMH cells use a 2 mil (0.002 inch) thick wrapper. AW & Pila wrappers are 3 mil. The standard shrink like from CBP is 5 mil. In a tight fit, that extra couple of mil does make a difference (circumference = 3.14 x diameter)

Thanks for the reply guys. Lux, yes you are very much right about the 1 or even a 1/2 mil making all the difference in some applications, hb/

I tied many different shrink wraps for 123's, even resorted to spray paint (worked great, pain to do) what I ended up doing when I dissambled CR223's is wrap them with scotch tape, very thin and insulates just great.

You can use that or Kapton 1mil (amber colored) tape, but I still like using 3 mil shrink which looks better, and doesn't have the overlap with tape.
