Okay guys, recently I set out on the quest to build the brightest 3 cell flashlight setup I could build that could easily be portable and rechargable. So I chose the M3.
I decided to get the M3 with 3 IMR16340 batteries a Lumens Factory IMR-13.
It works however I quickly discovered the M3 Bezel isn't a bezel you can disassemble and you can't disassemble the LF IMR 13.

I found this thread:
http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=213762

But it doesn't list how it he did it or what a RPM removal tool is. I really don't want to damage anything on it. What should I do now?

Order a complete, turnkey setup from nailbender -- D36 drop-in and already-modified Z46 clone bezel to fit the drop-in.

Hi Beaver 2!

I think you may also need to boil the head to loosen up the thread-lock on the head. You may want to check around on that.

have you considered a D36 adapter from LumensFactory? It would have to be installed on a C body though.... Something like a C3 would make a sort of similar light... Not as pretty though. I'm a big fan of the way the Z46 head looks. If you can mod the Z46 it will definitively keep that nice M3 look going.

I'm sure you've already considered this but do keep in mind, that the IMR-13 runs best on 3 large IMR cells. Lots of current requirement there and a design voltage that's targeted to tolerate BIG cells, so little cells don't drive it quite as well. You may find that the EO-13 seems just as bright in practice because it will be running with a little better color temp. Either way, it's pretty short run-time. Maybe 8 minutes on the IMR-13 and 13 minutes on the EO-13

Best of luck with the build.

Hi Justin Case,

I didn't know nailbender made incandecent drop-ins. I'll have to go check that out.

My mistake. I got confused and thought he wanted an LED drop-in for the Z46 since he was talking about the RPM removal tool and nailbender's Z46 clone bezel somehow got stuck in my head.

Fivemega makes a incan G4 module for HIS D36 26650 host. He said it may or may not fit other hosts. You could PM him and ask.

flashfiend,

That's a great recommendation, as it would allow the use of an 1185, which would outperform the IMR-M6 in this application.
