Remnants from hurricane Ike blew up into Ohio. I've been without power for 4 hours now from strong winds. I have the Fenix L2D and Rayovac sportsman extreme 3C cell tail standing for light. I have a couple CFLs and my laptop running off the power inverter from the truck. The LOD seems to be AWAL for the moment and I carry around the TaskForce 2C Cree.

Trees, limbs and other damage all over. I lost some shingles and a whole roof vent. Some siding just about blew off, but got it screwed down in time. I too lost some tree branches, but nothing major.

Radio says there are 10s of thousands in the area without power.

Wow! That's some influential hurricane. Glad I have my LED lights!

Yeah. The weather map looks like Ike has almost reformed somewhat. I mean, I know it hasn't, but it's even blowing pretty hard here.

Sittting here in Huntington WV and waiting.

Been waiting all day. Decent 20mph winds but nothin else, not even a flicker of waining power. The last hour the wind has died down to normal. Looks like I won't get any fun this time.
:sigh:

We got it bad because it was sunny and that added extra energy to the storm. As soon as evening came it all died down to nothing. Spoke to my parants who live 10 miles North and power was out there.

My power is still out. have not run any batteries down yet!

Best of Luck to all the CPF'ers
who have been affected by Hurricane Ike.

Monday morning and no power yet. Radio news says 180,000 without power and 20,000 turned on so far. crews called in from other states to assist.

Ran the batteris out of a couple lights. I turned on the Rayovac sportsman extreme 3C at 5pm last night and ran to 11pm. Now back on this morning. Started out with the already weak batteries I put in it 1 year ago. Wow this thing is the run time king!

Good luck to you and hope you have enough batteries, food and water....

That reminds me of a quote from a resident in Galveston who was on the news last night saying to the camera, "We are just about out of batteries already." That seems strange if they stocked up and were using LED lights. They can stay on forever on a set of batteries.

But anyway, best of luck and godspeed to all those who live in that area. They got hit much worse than they were expecting.
