A funny thing has just happened, after a serious run of flashaholism, I feel the bug may have run its course... After buying & selling MANY lights to come up with this set below, I feel like I'm set for a good while. And to commemorate this occasion, I went out & took some nice pics of my collection to share with you guys. And it is because of the experience of buying and selling a bunch of lights to pare down to these that I can speak with confidence that I have the right choices for me.. So without further ado, the "little lights":
That's my EDC up front, a Peak Eiger with an Oveready 4500k High CRI Nichia head and a TEK suspension clip. Its funny that after all the rants I've made about how a pocket sized light must have a pocket clip I ended up carrying one without one... The Suspension clip is fantastic. The HDS 200 is on its way to Tenko_Cowboy for a neutral treatment, as is the Jetbeam E3S (third from right). That E3S also has a custom clip and a tritted button, its my second most carried (or at least it will be after cowboy gets through with it)... The Zebralight is a Hi CRI H31 and is on my helmet for search & rescue missions, and my main light for camping/backpacking.That Pentagonlight also has a Nichia in it and is my backup light to the Zebralight when far from home. Also worth honorable mention is the little neutral N-Light B3: I sold two LX2FT's because this light looks just as good (including the tint/beam) and feels even more solid at a fraction of the price. Finally that's a Xeno E03 in the back. I actually have 2 of these, a neutral & a warm. At that price why not!? This thing is just a freak on a 14500 cell, a lot of fun to wow unsuspecting flashlight newbies with .. 🙂
2 cell lights:
The Malkoff MD2 has a fantastic Overady M61N at 4000k and a high/Lo ring... I tried the M61W and M61HCRI before settling on the Overady edition.... The Surefire C2 is cerakoted graphite black & has a Nailbender 4500k XML, 2 mode with smooth reflector. The 6P next to it was cerakoted with camo skulls by an unnamed genius, and also carries a Nailbender 4500k XML... The FDE lego 2nd from right is my baby, my own little Frankenstien light, featuring a VanIsle 1500 lumen quad at 4000k... The G2 was custom RIT dyed, and has a great Thrunite 3500k XML drop-in. My favorite tint of all my drop-ins, plus at 1.4a on high it doesn't get too hot for the polymer. This is by 2nd search & rescue/backpacking light, because it is "light" in my pack thanks to the polymer.
And a few big guns:
Missing from this photo is a neutral-modded Fenix TK35 I just picked up over on the marketplace. It will be tested against this Jetmean M1Xm, which is also neutral-modded, as my primary searchlight for search & rescue missions. That Wildcat was custom built for me by Gene with 4000k XPG's. The Fivemega 2x26500 sports a couple custom Nailbender 52mm (2" reflector) XM-L drop-ins, one 4500k and one 3000k. I use this one for my real estate & architecture photography, to "paint with light" during long exposures.
Thanks for looking, and letting me share my journey with you. I couldn't have done it without you CPF... My wife scolds you, but I thank you.
