I'm looking for something that I don't believe is common among HID lights.... A light that looks like a larger version of a traditional flashlight. I know there are many good HID lights out there, such as the N30 and Sam's Club POB. But the only ones that I've seen in a traditional flashlight form-factor are the Surefire Beast, the AE models, and the DX HID.

I'm wondering if there are others, and how well they'd compete against an N30 and Sam's Club POB.

I don't think you're going to find N30 performance (2800 to 3000 Lumens) in a 2 or 3D sized Mag at this point. Technology is not yet there. Look at the size of the Polarion Helios. This is indicative of what's out there. Also look at this:

(add the http://www)

It's a Mag'ish style but pretty big in real life. Also, in my opinion, it probably does not perform as the pics indicate. It is thought that they "borrowed" some pics from other lights here on CPF.

Monocrom, I think the closest that you're going to get is the AE Xenide series, which you already mentioned and the Microfire lights which you didn't mention. The K3500 "35W" is going to be the most powerful in its size class. The light probably makes and honest 2500 lumens but with a high color temperature of 6000K. The light may have a few short comings but I'm very happy with mine overall and it was worth the $400 bucks I spent when Optics HQ was selling them.

Here is a gif. of the K3500 and PH40. Distance was about 440 yards or very close to that.

I think it does very respectable for a light 1/5 the price of the PH40

Yeah it truly does!
I also think that you wouldn´t find more power in a light of that size....
As you see the K3500R has a real "coldblue" light....but for me that´s ok.Reminds me of the first HID´s i´ve seen at some expensive Cars (mostly BMW 7 series....aprox. 20 years ago!).

Regards...:p:wave:

The K3500 actually looks like it does pretty good at that distance. Why can't they simply load it with a 4300K lamp????? Paul, does it look like anyone else's 4xxxK lamp could be swapped into it?
