Hi,

I am interested in a HID light.(X990 or Kumkang) I saw that several US dealers ship to the UK with products like the X990.
But wondered if there are any UK dealers?
I like the look of the Kumkang also. I think someone said that you can only buy these direct. I am worried that I could get spare parts for each of these quickly or return the light for any warranty issues /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif This is not such an problem for lower cost or less complex devices.
Thanks for all the great info on this site and for Kenshiro's review site.

Many Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,i just purchased a x990 from brightguy because i can`t find any dealers of HID lights in the UK.Got a problem with it at the moment though ITS STOPPED WORKING.I had about5 mins use with it and boy is it bright.
Brightguy are trying to sort it, they have been very helpful. They seem to think it could be the charger because they had to get a special Euro charger so it works on UK mains electric.
I`ll let you know how i get on with it.
So you live in lincolnshire also, i thought i was the only flashaholic in lincs.Welcome Mark

Have you measured the battery pack voltage with a multimeter? I use lots of NiCd packs on my electric powered model aircraft and have a seperate hobby charger for these. This could be used to charge any other NiCd of NiMh pack if you could rig up some wires to the battery terminals. They are available from most good model shops or off the net from £40 to £200. Would probably give you a better charge than the standard charger as well. Let me know if you need more info.

Mark,i haven`t done anything other than let Brightguy know that the light stopped working.I could get a friend of mine check the battery pack voltage.I am not very electrically/mechanically minded but i am just puzzled by the fact that the light worked after i charged the battery up and the light then worked for 5 mins and now refuses to work.
Its brand new so i am letting Brightguy (hopefully) sort the problem.
I dont suppose you have any ideas why the light would stop working? Thanks Daz

I`ve just received a reply from Brightguy. They have been intouch with McCulloch`s R&D whom seem to think the problem is with the light and not the charger. They are going to send me a replacement light.Hopefully this will solve the problem(fingers crossed)
I can`t wait for the light to arrive because it is awesomely bright.I`ll let you know when i get it because believe me this is some kick *** light.

I'm in Hertfordshire - when you get a working model, please point it South towards London!!
