Our SWAT team leader has asked me to research an HID light that can be placed on the ground with a swival head that would be used to be placed in a doorway to illuminate a hallway. Basically he is looking for an ARCO 990 style light with a swival head.

Anyone have any ideas on what might be better then that model. Price range is around $500.00 per light. They are looking for 3 of them. Thanx...

Streamlight HID lightbox. Never seen one in person, just another possibility by a good manufacturer.

SL HID Lightbox is good to go. The charger can be mounted in your squads APC/Vehicles and will always have a constant charge. Grab and go with that light plus a good company to back it.

BIG Plus 1 on the Streamlight HID LiteBox. I've seen them at several LE shops for just over $400, and they'll use your current LiteBox chargers, too. PM me if you need more details.

Another +1 on the Streamlight. If it wasn't so big I'd get one myself. I wanted one to carry in the car, so I got a Wolf Eyes Boxer (and now have a Shark incoming). But if you got room and you need light, wow. That Streamlight is the way to go!

Yea that lightbox could be the one. Can anyone post some links to other HID's similar to this one? Thanx...

Well, I have the Thor 10MCP spot and I had the opportunity to directly compare the two. Yeah, the Thor is a great light for the money. It puts out a lot of light. But the Streamlight HID just blows it right out of the water in terms of beam color, area coverage, beam smoothness and sheer output. In every way but price, the Streamlight HID lightbox is vastly superior.

The ONLY other light in the price range of the Streamlight that I have seen (I won't comment on what I haven't!) and that I would personally consider is the Acro HID. I like it's beam color as being warmer than the Streamlight, and it's form factor is better for me to carry in a car. Plus it's more an area light than the Streamlight, although it sure can throw too. But it's handheld with a fixed head, which removes it from your list I think.
