I'm interested in both C and D versions if they can be driven from 2 cells, as I have both a 2C and 2D. As some have already mentioned, one that could run off 8.4v from two AW C cells would be a killer!

Follow up question: The input range is 3.7-6v, so would I be able to drive this in a 2D Mag with mdocod's 6AA>2D adaptor with 5 Eneloops and a dummy? Assuming that an 8.4v version doesn't become available... ;).

Hot off the charger, those AA's could be 1.4V. If you are going to use alkalines, you would be fine.

All the more reason for opening up the input voltage range to, say, 9v ;).

I just had a thought... if the input range is 3.7-6v, would it run OK from 3x nimh C cells in a 2D host?

The plan mac has is for a D Cell version. So a 3D Mag with 3D nimh or 4C nimh should work well with the input voltage of 6v max.

Don't know when/if I could afford it but it sounds like a 2D with 3C would be a good drive level.

How about PWM? Is it fast or none at all?

I have my old 3D and a 4D just waiting for something decent to put in them. I've tried Mr Malkoff's site but no joy there so count me in here. Yes please.
