Hello.

I'm seeking for highest power, but single die infrared emitters. The wavelength is not so important, anything in 850-950nm range will be ok. All I need is compact size (to fit in reflector) and highest power available. Checking trough OSRAM and other sites, I haven't found anything with power more than 1W. So, there's no more powerful IR leds available? I found some high power, 200-400W modules, but these are for SMD rework stations and are huge in size, so can't be fitted into any conventional reflector to form a focused beam.

can I ask what the application is? I've considered making a little IR datalink for home (just playing around), but in a previous job, I was involved with some IR laser stuff that was close to a watt. The projects involved narrow beams of light, although not trying to produce a tiny spot like is usually associated with lasers.

In my casual searches, I've only come across the OSRAM 1 watt LEDs. Would you be able to use multiple OSRAM LEDs, where each LED has its own reflector? Since the beam width is a function of the relative size of the emitter to the reflector, it may be that a single large LED would require the same overall area for the reflector as multiple smaller emitters with individual reflectors. Of course, with multiple emitters, you've got to get the individual beams all pointing in the same direction.
