My best friend purchased a Tiablo ACE-G. It works great with 2xCR123 but when you add the extender and put 4xCR123s, the lights comes on at full power for a couple of seconds and dims and shuts off.

They just have answered with very short replies, with no explanation or answer on how to fix or send back for a fix or replacement. Their last reply has gotten me really ticked off. I would like your input on how to proceed?

I have emailed Tiablo multiple times and this is what i have gotten:

Hello,

Our flashlight can work with 4pcs 3V CR123A, but if your battery's voltage is higher than 3V each one, you have to stop using it or will burn the flashlight.

Best regards,
Shellen

Hello,

Did you test the voltage of your battery?

Hi, I have Tiablo ACE G. It has the extension, but when I place 4 CR 123A batteries it shuts off.
Explain to me if it is not meant to be used with 4 batteries?
Thanks.

Your thread title is violating some rules here and isn't the best way to ask for help. You can either post a jeer in the cheers and jeers section if you like, or I would suggest if you are looking for help you tone down your title.

Just a friendly suggestion.

alpha6164,
You still need to test the voltage on each cell just to make sure none of them are dead. I wonder is one or more cells are tripping the protection circuit? You need to completely eliminate the cells before you can blame the torch. Try another new set of cells, maybe a different brand too.

Give them one more chance to make it right. At least they are responding within 24hrs so that's pretty good in my book.

I have tried Battery Station and Surefire. I have not checked the voltage but they are new batteries. I have also tried them in a Eagletac M2XC4, Surefire G2 with Malkoff M60 drop in and work just fine. The Tiablo works when it is two batteries, but when four is installed it wont work. And it doesnt matter which four i put in. Thanks for the input.

Sounds like a battery problem. Let us know if a battery replacement fixes the problem. Good Luck!

Can u explain? I have tried two different reputable brands. I have more than 50 of each and i have tried multiple different batteries all with same results. Also, those same batteries work great in other flash lights.

I guess I misread your post..sorry. Sounds like the click switch is the problem. I assume you have cleaned all the contacts & threads? I read on here where someone fixed his clicky by using alcohol swishing it around & letting the clicky dry out good. Hope this helps!

Lets try this. Get the matched set of 4 batteries of one brand. run them in pairs for 10 minutes in the flashlight in the normal non extension condition. So 10 minutes with 1 pair, set them aside, run the flashlight for 10 minutes with the second pair. Make sure its the same length of time. this is basically to run the batteries down a little. Now if the batteries didn't cause any problems and the light ran normally with each pair set for 10 minutes, that would suggest they are good batteries. Put the extension back on and put those four batteries back in that were all equally run down and see if it still shuts down immediately after turn on. The voltage should have sagged some what from usage as pairs. This is simply as a test to see if the real problem is the voltage from four fresh non rechargeable batteries is just over the limit of what the driver circuit can handle on this flashlight. I would also say if it were possible to run it on 2X17670's which should only be 8.4V max but take the space of 4 cells to do that and see what happens. If you don't have any than of course you can't do that as an experiment, don't run out and buy a set just to do this.

if you put in the 4 partially discharged cells and it works then that says the driver voltage sensitivity is really not what it should be but the flashlight is not actually "broken". However I would still send it back on the grounds that it doesn't work for the stated range.

If you put 4 partially discharged cells in it and it still goes off within a few seconds of turn on, just tell them its coming back for a replacement as its not operational.

If you have an ammeter and you can put in 3 batteries and use the probe from the ammeter to complete the circuit and see how well it works and stays on that would help figure some things out as well.

if you are saying to yourself, dagnabit this isn't supposed to be a science project. I just want it to work on 4 non rechargeable cells like it says its supposed to and it doesn't. then don't ask them for repair advice. Simply tell them its coming back for a replacement because its not operational as it should be as stated in their own specifications.

Special Note: If it does appear to work normal after partially discharge the 4 cells in two pairs each. I would not recommend doing that on a regular basis to run the light, this was just for a test. Keeping four non rechargeable cells balanced in their amount of discharge is a tricky thing and if you have one cell that dies first and the other 3 keep pushing it you could get that cell to explode. So this is simply for a 1 minute test and not a way to make lower voltage cells to run this thing on 4 instead of 2 as a regular operating process. Be careful.

^^^Thank you very much. I will definitely try that immediately and will post results. I am kind of with your statement about this turning out to be a science project though lol.

Reposting emails is a BIG no-no, as is this thread, which should be in the Jeer section of CPF-MP.

Why is reposting emails a big no no? Nothing is of a personal or confidential manner is being posted. I am trying to post exactly what has been said so there are no confusions.

Because it is a violation of rule #12.
Posting the e-mails was the best way for alpha6164 to put his point across. He has immediately had some sensible and helpful replies as well as a couple of downers. Seems that the earlier thread was quite timely!

Thank you. It seems like we have a few "flash light cops" that just want to nit pick and point out rules and codes of conducts. If a moderator has an issue with my post please let me know and i will modify it. Others, if you dont have anything to add regarding the post itself, please go to the next thread.

My goal was to show exactly the replies i had received from Tiablo instead of rephrasing them and having people think that i was making it more than it really needs to be.

Once again thanks for the helpful inputs.

I don't think this was to nit pick, just some trying to keep you out of trouble with the mods (don't want to be banned after only 12 posts!). Maybe try and edit out the emails before a mod does see it, since enough people saw the original and did give good advice. Not being a nag, but I have learned how everyone is and I'm sure it was meant only to help.

Discussion of dealer/manufacturer complaints belong in CPFMP. In this case, the Jeers section would not be appropriate, as it would not qualify - for one thing, you are in communication with the other party.

As to your publishing the e-mails from Tiablo... in this case, I doubt even they would regard these particular emails as confidential. At the same time, I do not really see anything especially annoying in what they said to you. Their last question could well be an indication of language difficulties.

As TMG says, the best thing for you to do would be to return the light for replacement. You may raise the matter in the appropriate forum on CPFMP if you wish; it's closed here.
