Hi chaps,

after reading few interesting threads, I wonder how many lux/lummens does Tillytec LED-1000-S2 really provide ? I haven't seen manufacture to publish which LEDs are actually being used though they claim 30000 lux. I actually have this light head, but wonder whether it is really where they claim it to be ?

thanks!

Without any technical information it's difficult to say. I wasn't able to find out what the 3 leds are or at what current they are driving them.

I've never understood the lux numbers anyway since to be meaningful there has to be a distance mentioned. I saw no mention of lumens and only a passing reference to it be "similar to 100W halogen".

Lux'es are only a way cheat people. One can easily get great luxes with a tiny bright spot and measuring close to the lens ! A laser pointer would give the best results ever !
TillyTec is one of the companies that do not publish the bright spot diameter. What use of this kind of comparisons? They show oddly cut pictures of beam shots with a measuring ruler on the floor. Of the poor picture I guess that the distence is one meter, maybe not. If the bright spot diameter is, let's say 30 cm (one foot), the lumens could be estimated like this:
Lumens = Luxes * Area
Lumens = 30000 * pi *0.30*0.30 /4 = 2120 lumen.

This leaves compeletely out all fill outside bright spot.
