How to measure pulse energy?

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum, so I hope I'm posting in the right place.

Can anyone suggest a fairly simple way (or recommend a setup) for measuring pulse energy of an LED (J/pulse)?

I've considered measuring IV across the device, but as I overdrive it (for brighter pulses) efficiency changes due to droop and I can't really extrapolate using an IV method.
