Hey CPF'rs,
Sorry if this has been asked before but I am trying to figure a way of removing a LuxIII emitter from a star but am not having much luck. Reading through some posts /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif there has been metion of the process but no description.

Can any one give a quick guide on how this is done?

Brute force.
Two good pairs of pliers, or one pair and a vise.
Bend each side of the star without bending the emitter's leads.
Go ahead, bend the crap out of the star as much as you can without messing with the emitter leads.
Then desolder.

Clip the leads a bit shorter to protect them from damage while cleaning off the brittle leftover crud from underneath the emitter.
A dental pick is good for that, or a small sharp pair of scissor blades work too if handled carefully.

Good luck.

i desolder one lead first, while prying it up with an exacto knife. once that lead pops off, you dont need to do much bending. a little deformation will get it loose and then desolder the second lead.

Thanks verry much all. I did a test run on a an older used and abused lux and managed to take the whole lesn asembly off leaving the bare led in tact and working :sigh
