You know how all your remotes, for TV, Video etc become dusty, and it's difficult cleaning between the buttons, with cotton buds, or whatever.

There is a solution.

It's dead easy actually.

Been doing it for years.

Once you get used to doing it, it becomes second nature.

All you have to do is place your remote, button face down whenever you have used it !!!

Then the (plain) back becomes dusty, much easier to clean.

As most of the time it is just sitting there, waiting to be used.

Of course, this still means you should have clean hands when operating.

How many of us have tried to press buttons with one finger, whilst the remote balances on the settee, and not held in your hand, cos of food sticky fingers !

I always place remotes face down on the arm of my leather recliner because they don't slip off, the rubber buttons are quite gripy.

I'm a remote face downer too.

I seal them in a zip-loc and tape it up. Makes for spill proof too

Have you considered moving? :lolsign:

one of the three ferrets running around this place (Plunkett) loves the soft rubber of the TV remote. no matter where I put it, he weasels his way to it and chews it apart. We are currently on our third remote...

Plastic wrap works wonders. I don't remember the brand, but we used to have one that was quite thick and very "sticky." Thus it was really easy to wrap around the remote and stay in place without tape until worn/dirty. Sticky fingers no problem! The remote under the plastic wrap looks brand new.

I also cover my remote gate openers, and even use plastic wrap on my computer keyboard.

If it is the destiny of my remotes to become dusty and dirty, so be it.
We do not oppose destiny lightly.

is that a German philsophy or proverb?:grin2:

I have a tendency to eat by the TV, so I wrap my remote in cellophane and overlaps it in the back....

all you need is to dust it once....seal it, then it'll remain new for the life of your TV. If it gets too oily...wellpull out another length of film:grin2:

Nah ... a matter of not letting a remote not only control my TV but also my most precious resource ... my time.
Remote controls are transitory. They will be replaced with the gadget they control. My time will not be replaced.
