How to use Surefire Lanyard

As a new proud owner of L2, I would like to get the most use of it, including the lanyard it ships with.
Before I used to carry Inova X5 and X03. I made lanyard for both by taking a lenght of paracord, running it through the lanyard hole, putting a plastic ring on it, and tying the ends. To use it, I would simply put my wrist in the loop between the tied ends and the plastic ring.
However, the surefire lanyard is about twice as long as my other lanyards, and has two plastic rings.
So what is the proper way of using it?

Thanks,

Andrew.

i believe you are supposed to run the lanyard from the tailcap over the back of your hand then secure it around the front of the light with the little cordlocks that are on it
this holds it in your hand so you cant drop it
however it is up to you - its your light, your lanyard, your choice

With a lanyard that long I leave it detached until I get into a situation where is will be used.

In use, I clip it to the tail ring and put my wrist through between the cordlocks, then cinch it up so that it is loose but won't come off.

Alternately I attach the lanyard to my clothing or gear. Belts loops and pack straps work for that kind of thing. You can even use a zipper pull or button hole.

I noticed that this lanyard is long enough to use as a neck lanyard too. Pretty versatile.

I don't know how long the lanyard is but there is another technique that may be of interest.
Place your thumb through the lanyard, then wrapit around the back of your hand and grasp the light. This gives a very secure grip and it is difficult to drop.
BUT, if you have to, you can get rid of it.

Mike, That is also the "Correct" way too use a knife lanyard. Much safer than putting the lanyard around the wrist!

I used to ( /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif ) with my L1 secure the light to my belt using the lanyard. When I was playing manhunt, or was using it for longer periods, I simply secured it to my wrist.. It works quite well. (best lanyards I know of)
