Grass cuttin weather here. My yard had was all brown n crispy-like. Then we got a thunderstorm and it turned green. No biggy. It stayed short. I let it be. The Ophelia gave us a soaker, then 3 days of cloudy drizzle. I looked out back today and YIKES! The grass had grown a foot this week.
Ok, get out the mower and the gentle breeze from the north made it feel like I was wearing an air conditioned suit. Humidity is up some so it feels fairly warm at 70 degrees on a cloudy day.
It's Fall again. Yay!!

Yep. High and dry in the basement until yesterday. Surprisingly, considering the way the rest of the city looked, it wasn't as bad as I thought. I was dreading going downstairs today when I woke up, thinking it might be a repeat of Hurricane Ida with ~6 inches of sewer backup in the basement. Nope. Maybe a half inch of rain water in the boiler room, mostly just puddles and wet spots everywhere else. It took maybe half an hour to sweep all the water down one of the traps.
I'm shocked considered the rainfall totals:

Nearest weather station to me (Kew Gardens Hills) measured 6.14 inches. Unlike Ida, this was mostly continuous moderate rainfall, not torrential. I think at times Ida was dumping 4 inches an hour on us. The sewer system can only handle 1.75.
I was surprised to see some clips of how deep the water was in some areas in the NYC Metropolitan area. I'm glad to hear that you had only minor basement flooding. I called a friend of mine who lives near the bottom of two hills, who uses two sump pumps to keep sewar/rain water back up, out of his basement, to see how he made out. He was fine, which surprised me because he typically has problems with less rain.
I was busy all day yesterday. I had no idea how bad the flooding in NY was. DAMN!

Also, there's been a lot of sewer work in my area over the last year or two, probably as a result of Ida. They probably also cleaned the catch basins. NYC is gradually upgrading its sewer system to what seems to be the new normal in terms of rainfall patterns, but it's obviously going to take time. The fact a few neighborhoods which normally flood escaped unscathed is a good sign.

Recent weather has been unseasonably warm for this time of year. Mid 20's (C) going up to 27-28C (maybe as high as 30C) today/tomorrow, then cooler and rain into next week. It gives a chance to go biking a bit longer, among other outdoor things. Leaves are taking longer to

Absolutely hazy in Florida today. 2 mile visibility at 3pm, so it's not fog. Airport has the beacon going mid-day. They're claiming it's smoke from Canuckistan wildfires, but I'm not sure on that -- I'm not seeing reduced visibilities in GA/SC.

The rain was just pouring down awhile ago, like out of a fire hose. Quieter now. RADAR still showing we are under the storm, though. WunderMap.
Went from low 60's to 90's in two days..
