They show this on the tv screen like it's just some little storm but....

It's actually this great big mass of clouds and rain.

Good time to plant grass seed.

The predicted path

Rapid intensification is a very high probability.
A look at the current wind shear map shows nothing to really hold that back over it's projected path.

This one has all the makings of a monster and I hope people are taking it very seriously.

calm winds, clear sky, cool fall day here.... 200 miles south of Tallahassee it's VIOLENT

Folks in southern Appalachia living near a river, should take real notice.

Bit humid, slight rain earlier in the day.
Honestly, I lucked out. Natural disasters just don't like visiting my neighborhood, even when the rest of NYC gets hit hard!

WE are getting slammed i guess its becuase there is the lake and nothing to block the winds if i die hey i trully dont care im old. but man i dont want my home harmed.. .anyone got a link to a live track of where the cane is?

If you have a basement, grab some food and get down there until the weather calms down.

nah non iroincaly i finaly after a year fixed my antenna so the wind quit blowing it around everyday lol its being beta tested now so good so far.but its confusing i have to pay attn to what station im watching lol. since im between columbus ga and dothan alabama i get channels from both citys.

I read that this morning and wondered why someone would stay. The news kept saying "up to 20 foot surges" for places 5 feet above the ocean. That and 140mph winds? Aint gotta tell me twice!

I think I read 8 foot surges resulted but still....140 mph winds. The traffic signals I inspect are designed to withstand 120mph sustained for 8 hours.

When Isabell hit we had waves 10' in the James river 100 miles inland. A place called Hopewell is a spot where the James spreads out fairly wide and has a huge sandbar with a navicable channel in the center for cargo ships to reach Richmond. Just west of Hopewell the river is about 500 feet wide. At Hopewell it's about 1500 feet wide. East of Hopewell it narrows back down until near Jamestown. At Hopewell there was a harbor with recreational boats too big to move inland. Next day the harbor looked like a bucket of floating legos dumped over the river.

That was at Cape Hatteras during Isabell.
Next day the pier was about half as long.

A guy on the radio from the Atlanta city gubment said the storm had taken a sudden change and surprised Atlanta with heavy down pours. I thought "hold on a second, they said a few days ago it was going to go exactly where it went. The only surprise was that Nashville did not have it sit over them for 24 hours as predicted (thank the Lord).

Yesterday afternoon

Not trying to minimize the impact. Just trying to say the gubment of Atlanta should not have been completely unprepared.

Unfortunately last I checked, death toll in Florida is up to 7 people.
I strongly suspect it's higher now.

Had to put studless wheels on the car yesterday, before I did the drive to work, and today was the first day with snow on the driveway.

New custom made trolley jack jack trolley works wonderful! With unexpected bonuses being it can be used to store the tools on (so I don't have to place them in the snow or wet dirt), and I can rest against it when changing the wheels.

Temperature is between -5°C and +5°C, depending on the hour.

Our weather is always perfect no matter what it is ...

Of course, as Washingtonians, we always complain, "It's too hot. It's too cold. It hasn't rained all Summer. When is it going to stop raining?"

Mother Nature's real and looming threat is Mt. Rainier, an active volcano, that's 50 miles from home.
