HX outdoors -- 5cr15mov - 80 grit regrind on the whetstone grinder ( knife sharpener )
400 slice fail on the rope / printer paper test medium .
$8.54 to my door ( Oz bananas )
Rope has gotten expensive , since my last purchase , 100% inflation .
Australia no longer prints phone books , so I was trying news paper as a test medium .
A single sheet is too fragile , so I doubled the paper ( folded ) . Cutting on the fold saw a 200 slice fail , 50% of printer paper . ( Might be the way to go ? )
Home made knife sharpener .. Piece of wood with 800 grit Wet N Dry glued to one side and 1200 to the other .
I wanted to see how hard it would be to sharpen a knife = Easy peasy lemon squeezy ! I was surprised .. After the video , I came inside and gave it some leather stropping and the edge came really good .
Spine - Reground to scrape wood ( That piece of gum tree is rubbish for scrapping )
Fire steel / Ferro Rod - Small / medium / large .. Oh yeah , makes a difference .. Especially over a solid Iron skillet .
Sheath = I threw the nylon sheath in the rubbish bin .. I had purchased a leather sheath about a year ago cos it was so cheap , just to have something - in case ! And I traded in the junk sheath for the leather one .
