I got a Ultrafire WF 500 from lighthound (good people by the way).
I was lubing the threads as they were all dry & got some grease inside the reflector, while wiping it away the reflective coating also wiped away in one area leaving a copper tint to that one small area. So should i just polish it out mirror smooth for throw, that's why I bought it anyway? I am not a beam perfectionist as far as perfectly round & smooth, my SF L6 does that, the 500 is my carry to the woods light for a little extra throw.
I am going to put in the LF HO-R5 630 lumen when lighthound gets them in stock. The reflector is aluminum, I have various wet/dry paper to 2000grit, 4 grades of jewelers rough, & dremel polishing wheels, what say ye?

hog, i personally wouldn't use ANY paper or jeweler's rouge as it could easily affect the surface and you'd end up with some nice scuff marks. i wear Oakley sunglasses and i've used the bag they come with to clear up things like this. a hot soap and water bath followed by buffing it with the bag, or even newspaper 'should' do the trick... i'm just not fond of 'polishing' with anything gritty unless i intend for it to get scuffed... but that's just me.

If the light's output is not adversely affected, it would probably be best to leave it alone IMO.

I suppose lesson learned, but it never does any good to wipe a reflector with anything. If it is a quality reflector, then some 90% rubbing alcohol would probably clean it off with minimal damage.

i my limited time here i have found if you touch it its broke, time to get a new one.:sigh:
