Can any of you explain why some batteries have 1.5V,1.7V,3V,12V, 22 volts etc.

I mean, how do you regulate the amount of voltage on a battery during the manufacture process, is it chemically regulated? any recommended liks?

Maybe I´m having a lot of spare time to think such things.

They are just combinations/additions of single cells, since almost all individual cells only have nominal voltages of 1.5v or so.
-So, for those higher voltages, it's necessary to put the cells together in series to add up to 6v, 9v, 22v etc.
*2 volts for SLA
*3v.+ for Lithium (except for L91-AA)

The basic chemistry determines the voltage.

That's why batteries of different size have the same voltage (AAA, AA, C, D); same basic chemistry, same voltage, just different capacity (life and amps delivered).
