All I can say is WOW. Its a great flashlight conversion. Its plenty bright for my purposes. I'll be testing it tonight when I go hiking. It throws a wide enough beam and is bright. I would say that it is good for 100ft. Its a hefty price tag, but it is worth it IMO...especially since it has 18 leds

Elmie...

Did you get yours off e-bay? That's about the only place I know where they're available? How much did you pay for yours? I hear they run around $100.

Can it really go 100ft?

The only place I've ever seen the DB LED conversion light is on ebay.

Prices seem to range from $85 to $100 depending on demand. I used the "Buy It Now" button that happened to be on the light I chose so nobody could snipe me out of it, and I think I paid $95 plus S&H.

When I bought mine last December, the listing said that only 15 to 18 of them would ever be made, but I believe somewhere around 40-50 of them have actually been sold.
So somewhere along the line, the guy found more Double Barrel bodies to work with.

is the 18 led so difficult to make that it cost so much??
i thought u guys are good at this sort of thing? but y must it be on a DB and can't it be on a mag of so smaller 4AA light??????

Yes it will shine 100ft, but it does flood out considerably. It will light up anything pretty bright at 50ft. The DB is a really good choice for converting for a couple of reasons. One being that its a unique light, I like it alot. Two, being that it uses double A's and has the ability to just run on 3 AA's is a plus. I took mine apart and by looking at how the board is secured to the light I can see why the DB is a good choice for converting. On a Maglite, the light bulb is afixed to a spring loaded holder, whereas the DB has a plate and a bulb with 2 pins are friction fitted. I believe a while ago someone posted pics of how the array looks like. And for a 18 led light it is cheaper than the CC Crane lights and in my opinion is also a more durable light than the CC's. And in terms of brightness compared to the CC, from what I can see on Telephony's site, it is brighter.
