I need to order from someone 2 threaded nipples for my RC-T5 project. The nipples are 28mm diameter 12mm long and 100 thread/in approximately (from my measurements). I would like to confirm these measurements but cannot find anyone with a lath/threader locally.

100 TPI is very fine and therefore very shallow. I'm curious as to the use of this particular part.

You can buy a thread gauge for under $5 at any hardware store.

Your measurements will have to be very precise, since the threads (if they are 100tpi) are only about 8/1000 of an inch deep. That means you will have to measure with proper measuring tools such as micrometer or caliper.

This part is for making a slug to screw the head to. Ok, I'll go get a thread gauge but thats what the guy told me when they were trying to order a slug for me(he was using a thread gauge).

Might he have said it was 1.00 mm pitch, and not 100 threads per inch? You can easily tell the difference using a ruler and magnifying glass.

A 1.00 mm pitch will have about 25 threads in an inch, or 1 thread per mm. A 100 tpi will have 25 threads in a quarter inch, or 4 per mm.

I don't own the light in question, so all I can do is give advice. :) This is the kind of thing where you probably want to take the part to a machine shop where they can do the proper measurements before they make the part.

Your right its. > "A 1.00 mm pitch will have about 25 threads in an inch, or 1 thread per mm." I swear he said 100tpi though. I need to find a machine shop around here so I can take the part in.

If you have a sketch, drawing, or a part that you want duplicated that you could send me, I might be able to make that fairly easily as I do metric threading all the time. What material were you thinking of using for your piece?
