I can't wait for a Cree or Seoul based Kroma!

I am tempted every time that I see a Kroma on B/S/T but I am having trouble justifying a 50 lumen / 1.5 hour light when Surefire can make a 45 lumen / 14 hour light like the E2L.

I had a Kroma before but I sold it. I would love another Kroma, but I can't bring myself to by one unless it is a killer deal.

I got to wait... but it is killing me.

Get one and swap the emitter for a SSC-P4. I was VERY close to doing that. But I found a dealer with a few current issue L5 that I'm going to give some "Seoul". Along with a new driver board.

From what I've read the emitter swap is anything but easy in the Kroma. If it was a quick DIY job I'd seriously consider buying one.

There's nothing wrong with this opinion, but....
I think that folks are so hooked on the concept of SureFire making only high powered lights that it is easy to start thinking this way. My thoughts on the Kroma are simply that it is SureFire's high quality low output tactical light.

For those who need a well built and refined low output multi color light the Kroma is perfect. It fills a specific need that some within the military or perhaps law enforcement (Think SWAT or surveilance) might have. Excellent low powered flood light output in red or blue. When used in a truly dark environment with little or no man made ambient lighting the low white has surprising throw for its output and also allows for decent navigation and medium range utility use. All in all excellent low output modes that provide just enough light for the task at hand while minimizing detection.

The high white output is certainly less than many might like, but the beam is absolutely gorgeous (Except for the outboard annoying white ring) and very useful. The runtime on high is not great, but I really think that SureFire does not expect those that use this light for its intended purpose will use high white very often. When the low modes are used the runtimes are generous.

It would be interesting to talk to someone at SureFire in design or perhaps marketing and discover who they expected their market to be and what they expected the Kroma would be used for.

Yes a Cree based Kroma would be just great, however I will probarbly buy a Kroma anyway. Perhaps a bit OT but can I place another O-ring at the bottom of the Kroma. So it will have double O-rings, some SF models have the possibility to do that L5 for instance. Any pictures of the end without the twistie?
