....seriously. I still love the nifty, though practical ,little toys. But i've now got a fairly respectable stable that pretty much covers the bases. My fenix T1 has the beefy-thrower angle covered. My Surefire G2l and L1 have the tactical angle covered, my P1D and LM31 have the EDC angle covered, (REALLY liking carrying the LM31 lately). For SHTF, long run-time stuff, i have a couple Infinity Ultras, SL 3C pro-polymer and a couple LED lanterns. For car lights i have a 2AA fenix loaded with lithiums and a 4AA pro-polymer. For sanding and staining AK-47 stocks out in the garage i have my trusty princton-tek head-lamp. Throw in a couple Inovas and several lower-end,yet still half-decent lights floating around here, and i think i'm beginning to taper off. But rest assured, i'm not laboring under the delusion that i ain't buying any more lights, just that my frantic aquisition phase may be on a much needed hiatus.
On the other hand, i am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the newly updated Inovas.

FIVE YEARS ????? WTF, PhotonBoy !!!!! I NEVER SAID NUTHIN' ABOUT FIVE FRIGGIN YEARS !!!! C'MON, OPEN UP !!! LEMME BACK IN !!!!!!!!!:sick2::sold::paypal:

I have not bought a light, battery, or component, all year! :mecry:

Was having severe withdrawal symptoms.

Tripling up on my EDC doseage has helped a bit.

And having more lights, batteries, and components, than I can lift at one time is reassuring. Helping others make 'good choices' I am living the flashaholic life vicariously, while saving for new US made lights that will appear later this year.

I see you don't have any lights over 300 lumens. That's a whole lot of flashlight you're missing out on, not to mention incans, HIDs, customs, mods, and so on. Trust me, having several thousand lumens is pretty fun. :)

You're just back down in the valley. But, with all the frequent improvements you'll soon be heading uphill again.

Geoff

You should update the SHTF category and add something from the Ludicrous category;

The Infinity Ultra will do ~14 hours before it's at 25% output (and it's only half as bright as a MiniMag with new batteries), and the Streamlight 3C holds the record for optimistic advertised runtime at 330+ hours, when in fact it's been tested to give ~48 hours of useable but unregulated light. A Fenix P3D is at least twice as bright as the MiniMag in low mode, and remains that way for over 72 hours *before it begins to dim*.

And who wouldn't want a Microfire Warrior III K3500R, a smart D-cell sized unit at only 10 x 3 inches, weighing in at just under two pounds, and producing 3500 LUMENS ... now that's a thrower...

Yeah right! Who you trying to convince?! :paypal:

Yea, after you've cleared out all the little cheap ones you start lusting after the bigguns. You're just starting the next phase of flashaholism, it gets even worse from here. :grin2:
Do I hear 1000 Lumens?

I'm kind of there too. I mean, how many lights do I need in the same slots? I have a couple pcoket lights like a Proton Pro and L1 plus an Olight T10, Lumapower LM31, SF E1L and a Peak. Tiny lights like a Photon and an Avenger, mid sized stuff like WolfEyes Guilder and Storm, and an L2. When I need the big guns I have HID. I even have a headlight - the Zebralight.

Not sure what else I could possibly need!

Yeah, that's 13 recently aquired "good" lights, but i have a couple LED lanterns, a couple 3AA teknolites (cool lights) ,a 1W luxeon tactical light from sportsmansguide that's probably a Nuwai (also a cool light) ,several keychain lights that were freebies included with other "serious" flashlight orders, two mag-lites hiding around here somewhere, and a jumbo re-chargable floodlight, so actually more like 20+ lights, i think.
And sure, i'd love a super-ultra-mega thrower someday, but hell, i can't find a place around here that'll max out my Fenix T1, so what's the point ?
I was considering another surefire, but considering what i've already got,and the cost, i just can't justify it.
But if Inova pulls it's head out of its *** and really does something cool with the X and/or T series lights this february, i could see myself jumping on one of those.
There are a couple others that have gotten my attention, but a little research somehow chases me away for some reason or another.Hi Ho.

I have trouble making it through a month....

OOh that makes sense if i went a year without a new light i would go crazy

What Tigerhawk said....:naughty:

This hobby does have phases though doesn't it...

Hopefully 300 lumen 2 cell lights don't become too common too quickly, because then it might dampen our spirits with too much of a good thing.

example: I have always liked accurate rifles. My good friend built a benchrest gun. Now, anytime we want to, it is simple to put 5 shots inside inside a dime at 100 yards... he or I, never shoot that rifle anymore...whats the point when you can do it with realitive ease. The same thing has happened to me with another rifle I have set up... its just not fun any more.

Part of what made owning hot Surefire incans or now cree Q5 lights fun is that they are kind of rare. (at least in the overall flashlight population) If dorcy starts making a 2xAA 300 lumen light sold at Target for $30... I do not know if this hobby will be that much fun anymore.

If Dorcy gets the technology for that down to $30, imagine what Fenix and SF (ok, may take them a bit of time) will have for us at the same time!
